Despite Marvel’s Avengers and its characters taking criticism and “changing” some of them up to look “better,” the latest reveal for the game is Kamala Khan, who is nothing more but the usual current year depiction of female characters. The upcoming action-adventure game developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal and published by Square Enix is set to hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 15th, 2020.
That’s right, the Pakistani-American teenager known as Kamala Khan will be a playable character in Marvel’s Avengers. Originating from Jersey City as the costumed Ms. Marvel, folks will not only get to play as Khan but learn about her “coming-of-age” story that’s integral to the “overall game’s plot.”
Creative Director and Writer at Crystal Dynamics, Shaun Escayg, had this to say about the character first shown in the A-Day prologue gameplay video:
“Telling our story of Kamala’s coming-of-age brings a fresh, hopeful perspective to the gameplay experience and her unique abilities as Ms. Marvel make her a character every person will want to play. Kamala Khan is the defining ingredient that makes our game stand apart from any Avengers story you’ve experienced before.”
Furthermore, Marvel’s Avengers’ main story sees Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor blaming themselves for the mass devastation on A-Day and the loss of Captain America.
Also, on that day, Kamala Khan got hit with the “Terrigen Mist” during the unanticipated attack — giving her stretchy and healing powers.
Fast-forward by five years after A-Day, and the Avenger’s absence has devastating consequences worldwide. In the group’s place comes a secretive new organization named Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM). Attempting to stop this group is Kamala Khan and Bruce Banner (or the Hulk) according to the following trailer:
“The core Marvel Avengers’ roster rounds out with the addition of viewpoint character Kamala Khan! The beloved teenager who defends Jersey City as Ms. Marvel joins Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Captain America in an original Avengers story told by Crystal Dynamics.”
If this game looks interesting to you for some reason, then you have until May 15th, 2020, to pick it up across PC and home consoles.
