Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo announced that Nioh 2 is set for release on March 13th, 2020 next year for the PlayStation 4. Ahead of the release the game will also receive an open beta during the month of November, which will last between November 1st and November 10th.
The news was revealed via a new trailer for the game, which showcased some of the bosses, some of the content, some of the combat, and some of the new weapons, armor, and locations you’ll be visiting.
You can check out the trailer below.
The trailer gives gamers a look at some of the spear attacks, sword attacks, specials, and armor types that will change how you can dish out and receive damage from enemies.
There’s nothing particularly special about the trailer, but we do see that the bosses can utilize a number of different tactics to pick you up, break you apart, slash you, hack you, and fire projectiles at you.
The good part is that you can knock enemies off of cliffs, push them down hills, and generally throw them off balance, which is neat, but once again there’s nothing particularly special about the combat that we haven’t already seen before from other Soulsborne games.
Obviously the highlight is being able to customize your own character and play with other people online. Koei Tecmo is even hosting a character creation contest, which you can participate in right now.
Given that the first Nioh eventually made its way to PC, I don’t doubt that the second game will eventually make its way to PC gamers as well.
If you’re on PS4, though, you’ll be able to play-test the game ahead of release with the open beta, which is scheduled to take place between November 1st through November 10th .
If the game seems interesting to you, you can look for the game to launch on March 13th, 2020 next year on PS4.
