The last time we reported on Hideo Kojima talking about making movies, it was about him rejecting Hollywood offers and integrating film into his games. Well, as of now, Kojima hopes to make movies out of his studio Kojima Productions.

In case you may have missed out on the lengthy September interview that website ft.com has up, the publication site dives into why Kojima is interested in both film and video games, and why he aims to merge the two through his style of work.

Well, for those thinking, “Why doesn’t he just make films if he says his body is 70% made of movies?” And to that very query, he’s thinking about doing that sometime in the foreseeable future.

“In the future, Kojima Productions will start making films. If you can do one thing well, then you can do everything well.

 

I think within the next few years, gaming will move on to streaming. Movies, dramas and games will all be streamed and you’ll enjoy them on your iPad or iPhone or a screen anytime, anywhere.

 

When that happens games, films and dramas will have to compete in the same space.

 

I’m very interested in the new format of game that will appear on there and that’s what I want to take on.”

Given that all of the above is supposed to take place in the next few years means that fans of Kojima’s work might see something tossed around moving into 2023 or so.

As for Kojima Productions’ upcoming work, which is Death Stranding — a title that mixes elements of the silver screen and video games — is due out on November 8th, 2019, for PS4 while the PC version via Steam is set to launch early summer 2020.
