Have you ever seen an interview that you could tell in a few years the person who made it was going to deeply regret what was said? Not just a single comment some cancel culture pricks will dig up to try and ruin your life in 15 years, but an entire monologue that will come to haunt you the person. In an interview hosted by THR’s Awards Chatter Podcast Kevin Feige confirmed that not only was he the source of the wokeness that began creeping into the MCU past 2015, but that Ike Perlmutter had opposed him every step of the way.
IGN — when they weren’t busying themselves attempting to paint Perlmutter as some kind of arch-fiend — went on to highlight Feige’s response to whether Perlmutter’s views on diversity played a role in his reassignment.
“That’s part of it,” Feige said. “There’s a lot of sides to the story. You can pick up Bob Iger’s book ‘The Ride of a Lifetime’ to learn more, I highly recommend it, but it made sense at that time. We had made ten movies or more that managerially, there was another way to go.”
Much in the same way Iger pushed for feminism in Star Wars he has also gone on record pushing progressive narratives into the MCU. Narratives that Perlmutter appeared to fight tooth and nail to prevent entering the movie, not out of a sense of altruism or anti political correctness, but because he was in the business to make money.
“Kevin is one of the most talented film executives in the business, but my sense was that the strained relationship with New York was threatening his continued success. I knew I had to intervene, and so in May 2015, I made the decision to split Marvel’s movie-making unit off from the rest of Marvel and bring it under Alan Horn and the Walt Disney Studios. Kevin would now report directly to Alan, and would benefit from his experience, and the tensions that had built up between him and the New York office would be alleviated.”
“We had a chance to make a great movie and to showcase an underrepresented segment of America, and those goals were not mutually exclusive. “I called Ike and told him to tell his team to stop putting up roadblocks and ordered that we put both ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Captain Marvel’ into production.”
Right now the Social Justice club is manifesting their Trump Derangement Syndrome and celebrating the marginalization and sidelining of Perlmutter they don’t realize how they’ve done both the fandom and the man a favor.
When the MCU eventually follows the earnings trajectory of Star Wars investors are going to be rightfully unhappy to put it mildly. Already they are questioning Iger’s ability to successfully manage the company after the failure of the Star Wars movies, toys, and theme park. Along with his investment in streaming, that by his own admission will take years to potentially turn a profit when they could have just utilized their position in Hulu.
As the MCU declines under the “Future is Female” mantra of Feige, when investors look for who to blame it won’t be Perlmutter — whose management had kept the franchise successful for over ten movies. No it’s going to Iger, Feige, and Horn. The social justice crowd inside Disney has successfully put themselves in a position where they will have no scapegoat for the foreseeable future.
Some will argue that that is purely hyperbole they’ll wiggle their way out of blame. Yet what those that believe so don’t realize is investors are wising up to Get Woke Go Broke. Already projects are being cancelled for being too woke in Hollywood.
The Hollywood elite can virtue signal all day long, but soon it won’t be with investor’s money.
