Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition Releases Feb 14th, 2020 For $29.99

Even though Capcom said they weren’t going to have a bunch of different version of Street Fighter V, it turns out that they will have a bunch of different versions of Street Fighter V. The latest announced version of the game is Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, which will be made available on PC and PS4 starting February 14th, 2020 for $29.99.

If you were one of the poor saps who already bought one of the previous iterations of the game, you can get your hands on the possibly complete edition as part of an upgrade kit for $24.99, which is available right now for current owners of the game. However, not all of the content from Champion Edition is available right now.

There will be some new colors along with the playable character Gill that will be available as separate DLC purchases in December, or as part of the upgrade kit that you can purchase now.

The actual package itself will contain quite a bit of content, though, as outlined in the announcement trailer.

The Champion Edition of Street Fighter V comes jam packed with 40 playable characters, 34 interactive stages, and more than 200 different costumes for the rather impressively sized cast of characters.

However, it’s funny to note that SNK used to boast having around 40 characters in games like King of Fighters. More impressively, though, for King of Fighters XIV, the game came busting out of the gate with 50 playable characters. However, to be fair it was a fairly stark difference between the game’s original hand-drawn art-style and the new 3D renders, and even then the 3D rendering certainly wasn’t up to scratch as far as art-style was concerned when compared to Street Fighter V.

Anyway, I just thought it was interesting that it took Capcom three years to finally reach 40 playable characters.

If you somehow didn’t buy any of the other versions of Street Fighter V over the last three years, you can pick up the Street Fighter V: Champion Edition starting February 14th, 2020 on PC or PS4 for $29.99
