Aksys Games announced back in early August that Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] was headed to the PlayStation 4 at some point in early 2020. Well, now they’ve clarified that it won’t be heading to just the PS4 in 2020… it’s also going to release on the Nintendo Switch.
In a new trailer showcasing some of the gameplay, the trailer and accompanying press release reveals that Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] will arrive on both the Switch and the PS4 starting February 20th, 2020.
The trailer highlights all of the starting roster characters that includes Linne, Hyde, Yuzuriha, Vatista, Waldstein, Mika, Orie, Phonon, Nanase, Gordeau, Enkidu, Chaos, Eltum, Akatsuki, Merkava, Byakuya, Carmine, Seth, Wagner,Londrekia, and Hilda.
There’s a fairly robust character roster for a traditionally made hand-animated game, especially using HD sprites.
Then again, a lot of the characters are carry-overs from Under Night In-Birth‘s original outing that came out back in 2012. Since then they’ve slowly added on to the roster and expanded the the characters via EXE:Late, [st] and now [cl-r]. So even then it took years to reach 21 playable characters and yet it’s less than half the amount of characters featured in some other big 3D fighters like King of Fighters XIV or Street Fighter: Champion Edition.
However, for the people who appreciated the classic HD hand-drawn look from French Bread, you can look to get your hands on Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[cl-r] starting February 20th, 2020.
It’s also nice to see that the game will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch as well, so for those of you who don’t want to support Sony and the PS4, you can put your money in the coffers of a better company like Nintendo.
