Down To Hell, Heavy Metal Slasher Hits Nintendo Switch December 23rd

Ultimate Games S.A., announced that after the PC version of Down To Hell released in August, they wanted to give Nintendo fans an opportunity to play the game on the Nintendo Switch come December 23rd on the Nintendo eShop.

The side-scrolling hack-and-slash title originally dropped on Steam for PC from Red Dev Studio back in August. The game launched at the $9.99 price point, but it didn’t quite win over as many gamers as I thought it would.

Billed as a heavy metal, side-scrolling, hack-and-slash ballad of blood and steel, Down To Hell tells the story of a hateful knight on a quest to purge the land of evil and cleave the demons from the land of the living.

The hook for the game is that it’s bloody, gory, filled with lots of sword swinging action and soundtrack provided by Decapitated, KORONAL, and other heavy metal artists.

So what were the biggest issues with the game that resulted in the mixed review score on Steam? Well, there were some control issue because the game was designed for controllers not keyboards, hence those who played it with a controller stated that they didn’t have any problems. I imagine that won’t be a problem for Switch owners.

There were also some issues with enemy collision detection, which some people found off-putting, and there were a few complaints about audio syncing.

Hopefully those minor issues are corrected for the Nintendo Switch release, and the game handles well. It would be a real shame if those problems weren’t addressed and carried over into the release on Switch.

It looks like it should be a fairly solid experience on Nintendo’s little console that could. The game also reminded me of a mix between Blasphemous and Slain!. If you were interested in picking up a digital copy you can do so starting December 23rd from over on the Nintendo eShop for $9.99.
