Bandai Namco and Arc System Works’ Dragon Ball FighterZ turned out to be one of the few smash hits of 2018. The game has managed to stay relevant in the news every time a new DLC fighter joins the roster, and one of the most talked about additions to the game is the arrival of Broly, who is due to drop on December 5th, 2019, as reported by Eventhubs.
However, unlike his appearance in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, the animated film that came out in late 2018, Broly won’t be voiced by legendary voice actor Vic Mignogna… instead, he’s being replaced by Power Rangers alumni, Johnny Yong Bosch, who played the Black Ranger in the hit Saban series.
The reveal was made via the livestream on Bandai’s US Twitch channel on December 2nd, 2019, as reported by The Outer Haven.
The news spread far and wide rather quickly, managing to trend in the U.S., on Twitter.
Some people praised Bosch for being selected to voice Broly, while others joked that it means we’ll finally get Jiren versus Broly as well as Jotaro versus Broly, since Matt Mercer voices both Hit and Jotaro from the JoJo series.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is just a JoJo game in disguise.

On a more serious note, there was a lot of debate about whether or not Johnny Young Bosch was a better choice for Broly than Vic Mignogna, since Mignogna had originally voiced Broly in past movies, as well as in the latest Dragon Ball Super: Broly animated film, which went on to make millions of dollars for Funimation. That was before they fired Mignogna just a couple of months later after some employees made spurious allegations against the actor.
So I’m going to give my honest opinion on where I have Johnny Yong Bosch when it comes to English Dubbed Broly so far.
Vic Mignonga > Johnny Yong Bosch.
As for why, I’ve only Heard Johnny’s screams as Broly. And while they were good, I still need to hear how he speaks. pic.twitter.com/3F7dNWzm3U

Some have speculated that Bandai Namco and Arc System Works didn’t bring in Mignogna to voice Broly due to the lawsuit he filed against Funimation and some of their employees.
Rumors have it that Mignogna plans to appeal the verdict the initial decision from the judge didn’t quite end in his favor, as reported by Sankaku Complex.
Of course, Bandai Namco didn’t exactly say why Mignogna didn’t return to voice Broly, nor did they confirm if Johnny Young Bosch would be voicing the character in any future anime movies or part of the English dub of the Dragon Ball Super series.
In any case, we do know that Mignogna was not brought in to voice Broly in Dragon Ball FighterZ for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, no matter how much fans may have wanted to hear him voice the character again.
