Hero Must Die. Again Getting Physical Release For Nintendo Switch, PS4

Degica confirmed that physical versions of Hero Must Die. Again will be made available for the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4. This means that if you missed out on the original when it released on the PlayStation Vita, you can get a second chance at this niche goodness when it arrives in physical format for the Switch and PS4.

I’ve always been a huge proponent of physical releases, especially given all the dangers surrounding the all digital future. If you want to play a game that you’ve preserved with its case and cartridge, you just pop open that bad boy and plop it into the system and play it as if it were brand new. Even if the console dies you can just get a new one, or if the servers go kaput you can still power on that physical copy with the freshness of a red-bottomed baby getting slapped by a doctor straight out of its mother’s womb.

The confirmation of Hero Must Die. Again‘s physical release for the current crop of consoles actually came via EastAsiaSoft community developer and Switch Corps aficionado, Joshua Michael French, who asked Degica Games politely about the possibility, and they confirmed it on December 12th, 2019 via tweet.

For all of you who have absolutely no idea what Hero Must Die. Again is, the game original game came out back in 2016 for the PS Vita.

It’s a side-scrolling, 2.5D JRPG with traditional turn-based gameplay where you battle enemies in an isometric perspective. You can get a glimpse of what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

Well, okay the trailer doesn’t really give you a good idea of what the gameplay is like, but basically you run around in a 2D plane, talking with NPCs, battling enemies, and exploring various areas, dungeons, and fantastical locations.

As depicted in the teaser trailer, the hero only has five days left to live, and so you have to do whatever you must do within that five day period.

You can get a better idea of what the gameplay is like with the playthrough below courtesy of Handheld Players.

Degica Games will release G-Mode’s game digitally on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and on Steam for PC for the first time in English. But PS4 and Switch gamers will have an opportunity to get their hands on the title with a physical release as well.

You can look for the game to release in spring of 2020 for home console and PC. For more information you can visit the official website. Alternatively, you can wishlist the game on PC by visiting the Steam store page.
