Back on November 13th, 2019, Pearl Abyss announced three games at G-STAR or Pearl Abyss Connect. The developers over Black Desert revealed that one of the three games is a next-gen MMO third-person shooter for PC and consoles. The name of the game is Plan 8, and it currently has no release date.
Despite the game being announced mid-last month, the devs updated the official Plan 8 YouTube channel with lead producer Seung Ki Lee and technical advisor Minh Le offering insight on the forthcoming next-gen MMO title.
Without wasting any more time, you can check out the duo talking all things Plan 8 right here:
If you don’t want to sit through six minutes of talking, here’s a quick summary of the newly posted video thanks to Lee:
“From the outset, we aspired to develop a next-generation shooter and really aimed to create something above and beyond the conventions of shooter games already out there. This is why we’re aiming to develop a vast open world and a profound worldview in PLAN 8. We’re also really placing an effort to develop an interesting and suspenseful story that unfolds in the world of PLAN 8.”
As for Plan 8’s premise, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic world and unabashedly takes cues from The Surge. Speaking of that game, Plan 8 also sports exo-suits and various robotic-like weapons that you can use to run on walls, rip car doors off and use as shields, and utilize other attachments like leg-wire whips to put down enemies.
I should also note that Plan 8 is Pearl Abyss’ first game to focus heavily on shooting mechanics and cover-based third-person action.
So with all of that in mind, you can check out the full reveal trailer for Plan 8, which also happens to be “actual in-game footage” right below:
The MMO third-person shooter has no release date as of this writing, but you can head on over to plan8.pearlabyss.com to learn more.
