Nioh 2 Story Trailer Arrives Along With Post-Launch DLC News

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja are working on Nioh 2 as we speak, and it looks like the third-person action-adventure game is still on for its mid-March release for PS4. In the meantime, you can see a new story trailer and hear about the game’s post-launch DLC plans, thanks to the PlayStation blog collaborating with Team Ninja.

Team Ninja’s creative director Tom Lee has taken to the PlayStation blog to do the usual stuff, which means more Nioh 2 info for you to look over.

Moreover, a new trailer has appeared offering some exposition on the forthcoming game’s story. Both the Japanese and English versions sit below:

In case you didn’t catch the story, a quick summary sees Japan during its Warring States period in 1555. The never-ending warfare has brought chaos, demonic yōkai, and evil spirits that feed on easy victims.

Nevertheless, during these perilous times, the half-breed protagonist is a rogue mercenary hunting down yōkai in the Mino Province and later comes across magical elements called “Spirit Stones.”

These stones are highly sought after and will take the protagonist on a wild ride across feudal Japan.

Aside from story beats, Lee goes on to explain how Nioh 2‘s post-launch DLC structure will pan out:

“We have three major DLC releases planned, with each focusing on a different storyline that pre-dates the events of Nioh 2, promising hours of additional gameplay that will provide plenty of challenge for those thirsting for more.

Similar to the original Nioh, players can expect new weapons, new combat abilities and new characters, with each DLC incorporating both multiple main and sub-missions.”

Although I’m not a fan of post-launch DLC being announced before a game hits store shelves, folks can look to take part in all three expansions by getting the season pass or the digital deluxe edition of Nioh 2.

Nioh 2 is currently scheduled to launch for PS4 on March 13th, 2020.
