Rumors of soon to be major reveals have enjoyed a surge in prevalence as of late. Perhaps it is an indication that we have entered an epoch wherein corporations “leak” upcoming major announcements rather than go with the old fashion “we have a major announcement at x time.” With the rise of leak based marketing, it makes practical sense. After all, a rumor travels around the world twice before the truth puts its boots on and secreted information generates vastly more hype than an announcement for an announcement ever has.

One of the most persistent claims over the last several months pertains to several major titles being in the works at Capcom; with Dino Crisis being heavily teased as having a reboot in development and Dead Rising 5 having survived Vancouver leaving me on my widow’s walk, waiting and hoping for good news. Soon as the rumors claim another major title will be announced in the Resident Evil series. Ahead of that announcement, it appears details have leaked to Biohazard Declassified where they were picked up by Residence of Evil.

With the summation of details below, previous leaks have indicated that this game would be heavily influenced by Resident Evil 3.5 as Residence of Evil mentioned regarding getting a vibe about. Indeed the game will feature hallucinations along with another planned pursuit enemy known as Scissorman, a character that should not be mistaken for his Clock Tower counterpart.

Trouble appeared to be brewing as the game was reportedly sent back to the drawing board, but even if that were true it wouldn’t be the first time Capcom spun off a long in development project rather than terminating it Thus giving us the now stated “clever named” title leaving another game to properly assume the mantle of Resident Evil 8.
