Some claim gaming has never been worse than it has today. That certainly holds true for the AAA space that is dominated by shallow design, predatory practices, and whatever politics the publisher can shoe in to hide their skeletons. Yet while AAA may be festering, the indie and AA scene has never been better and from it comes another unique horror game, The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters.

Sad state of affairs when the only horror we get out of AAA is either mixed with horror or the meta variety where we stand aghast at the levels the industry will borough to. Contrasting with that, The Coma 2 aims to deliver an actual horror experience with its unique hand-drawn experience. An experience that is not shy about endowing its heroine with proportions that will have feminists shrieking.

Survival in the game will depend on resource gathering, crafting and unsteady alliances with the denizens of the nightmare Miss Park finds herself in. Unlike other games who are too afraid to let you die, here you can easily be murdered, maimed, injured, or suffer from several afflictions over the course of the game.

According to the developers, those who have not played the original will not be missing out in the sequel as it features an entirely new protagonist. If you are a lore nerd like yours truly or you enjoy seeing characters return you’ll get a greater appreciation of the sequel, but the game itself is self-contained.

All things considered, The Coma 2 looks to deliver what so many modern horror games are too afraid to actual survival horror experience. Not some action game with horror elements, actual run for your life, manage your inventory, and don’t be stupid if you want to survive the horror.

Description

Mina Park, a student of Sehwa High, awakens at night in her school. It isn’t long before she realizes that something is amiss. The once-familiar school where she spends her evenings studying looks twisted by something dark and sinister. She finds herself pursued by someone or something that looks eerily like her teacher.
