Nintendo will release a special Animal Crossing: New Horizons themed livery and Joy-Con color schemed Nintendo Switch home console SKU starting March 13th, 2020. The specially themed console will carry the $299.99 price tag.
What’s real gyp-worthy about the special console is that it doesn’t even come with a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. That’s right, it will cost you $299.99 but the game itself is sold separately.
The console will come with a custom Animal Crossing livery for the television docking station, with an all white background and wavy water at the bottom with three characters – Tom Nook along with Timmy and Tommy – on the right hand side of the dock, sitting atop a small island with a flag.
The back of the console has some Animal Crossing iconography on it sprinkled in small doses from one end to the other. There’s also a pastel green and white leaf-designed carrying case for you to store the Switch.
It’s nothing too special.
The Joy-Cons also received a palette overhaul, with the left Joy-Con getting pastel green look and the right Joy-Con doused in cadet blue, with white back plates.
The Joy-Con grips have also seen a color alteration, being reversed from black to white, which is a rare instance of color swapping in today’s media landscape.
Additionally you’ll be able to pick up a carrying case and screen protector for the Switch separately.
If you already have a Nintendo Switch and you don’t give two tosses about this new Animal Crossing themed console then just ignore it and go on about your business when March 13th rolls around.
Alternatively, if you were interested in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for whatever reason, the game is due to launch on March 20th just a week after the custom console is launched. The game will run you a less-than-blush worthy $59.99.
