BE-A Walker Sees You Colonizing A Planet By Crushing, Shooting Natives With A Big Mech

Now this is my kind of game. BE-A Walker for the Nintendo Switch is an indie 2.5D side-scrolling shooter game where you man a giant walker and crush, stomp, and shoot any and everything in your path on your way towards cleansing a planet in preparation for colonization.

The story centers around an over-populated Earth that is dying due to lack of resources. Players are part of a crew that venture to a resource-rich planet known as Eldorado, which is a vegatation-rich planet perfect for humans to populate. The only problem is that the air toxic and the natives hate your guts.

So what do you do? You man a Biped Enhanced Assault Walker, otherwise known as BE-A Walker.

Your job is to eradicate the savage menace on the planet to make way for humans. Cleanse out the filth and make it hospitable and you’re on your way to winning the game.

There’s also a flip-side to the game as well.

You can also play through the game and protect the natives, working as a sort of mechanized deity for the primitive humanoids who know only war and strife.

It’s an interesting action-strategy game of sorts, especially when you take on the role of fighting against the colonists or fighting for them.

The actual gameplay is also a little more complex than what the trailer lets on. You have to manually control each leg of the mech in the physics-based side-scroller. You use the legs to crush the humans beneath you and the heavily powered weapons for long range attacks.

You’ll need to dodge missiles and explosives as you traverse the dangerous planet, as well as acquire upgrades to make the mech more suited for sustained combat.

It’s not the most advanced game out there, but I love that the developers at Tequilabyte Studio have balls and aren’t afraid to make games that will surely leave some game journalists rheeing into the night.

You can look for the game to launch on February 28th, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch thanks to Sonka handling the porting duties. The game is also scheduled to launch on the Xbox One and PS4.
