State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition Announced

For many, the zombie apocalypse is played out, boring, done and over with; but for me, it has remained one of my favorite sub-genres in the post-apocalypse scene. I’ve never been head-over-heels for every zombie game out there, but the few that do it right are a blast to experience. Sadly too many games in the genre just coast on having zombies believing that is enough to get by, resulting more often than not in the zombies in a zombie game being a nuisance rather than the prime threat or core mechanic of the experience.

Not succumbing to that shortcoming, the original State of Decay built a loyal following. Though for me it always felt like a shallower 3D version of Rebuild with a plot littered with holes and one of the dumbest revelations ever. Nevertheless, it wasn’t without its unique charm and potential. A potential that wasn’t met after the sequel’s lengthy development hell excursion. Now with the upcoming PC release, Undead Labs aims to remedy their mistakes and deliver a more competent experience.

Undead Labs has announced with the upcoming March 13th PC release of State of Decay 2 the game will receive a massive upgrade to the entire experience. Crushing bugs, improving graphics, and introducing a new map and mechanics, overhauling the experience for both “new and veteran” players alike at a fairly reasonable $30 price tag.

From the description State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition will still be State of Decay 2, so if you were not interested in it in the first place there looks to be little in the way that will draw you in. Those who love a good zombie game, on the other hand, have something to look forward to next month.
