Finifugal Games announced that they have a unique new real-time strategy game in the works set to release on Steam for PC this summer. The game will enter into Early Access, giving gamers an opportunity to check out some of the core concepts and features before the full thing drops at the end of the development tenure.
Colony Siege sees players in control of a human settlement smack dab in the middle of a war between the Xenos, the humans, and the Riven.
Your objective will be to build up your resources, establish a base of operations, and secure your perimeters as if your life depended on it.
The game is very similar to X-Morph: Defense from Exor Studio, which is a mixture of RTS base-building, tower defense and twin stick shooting.
There’s a similar kind of setup in Colony Siege, where two players can work together to build up structures, and then take on the enemies if they manage to breach your very elaborate defenses.
At the moment, the game is only 30% complete, and there are multiple game modes and missions along with the campaign co-op support. However, they still have a lot of content to finish and more fixes and ironing out to do before Colony Siege is ready. They estimate that the game will spend around four months in Early Access, but we all know how these things can go; they take time.
They plan on including the community throughout the development process, making changes, refining features, and taking some requests and feedback. Colony Siege certainly isn’t rewriting the book on the RTS/tower-defense model, but they are attempting to take a stab it, not unlike Stardock Entertainment’s Siege of Centauri.
