Destinybit and Firequid announced that they have a new strategy city builder game in the works called Dice Legacy. Surely it’ll help you pass the time as you’re trapped inside, waiting for Corona-chan to finish up her deadly dates with unsuspecting fools still roaming around outside as if nothing’s wrong.
Dice Legacy is targeting a summer release into Early Access on Steam, as the developers plan on iterating on the concept and improving it over time.
The core gameplay is unique insofar that you’ll use virtual dice to build a city on a circular ring, not unlike Halo.
You’ll have to explore, expand, and manage your town and resources while be wary of some of the ring’s secrets. You can get a glimpse of what the gameplay is like with the reveal trailer below.
It’s basically a real-time city building simulator where discovery through the fog of war is achieved by rolling dice from your menu, building up enough resources to place down houses, and then further establishing your village by rolling more dice, and rinsing and repeating the process until you have a small empire on your hands.
The map is procedurally generated each time you play, so your exploration throughout the ring will be different each time around.
You’ll have to roll dice to get construction workers to build new facilities, or to farm new resources, and then use your earnings to further expand your empire.
There are also invaders, raiders, and bandits you’ll have to deal with, who will attempt to run roughshod on your entrepreneurial endeavors. You can deal with bandits by acquiring combat dice that you can place down in front of the bandits to waylay their efforts.
It’s an interesting take on the city-building simulator sub-genre, and it could end up carving out its own little space in due time.
