Bethesda Softworks has released the official launch trailer for Doom: Eternal, which teases the Icon of Sin. The upcoming first-person shooter will release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 20th, 2020.
As of now, Bethesda Softworks and id Software’s promotional campaign for Doom: Eternal will be ramping up even more as we near the FPS game’s launch date. And that means we might be treated to more unfitting rap music or skins pandering to Fortnite and furry goers.
With that said, the most recent promotional material is the official launch trailer, and this time we get a glimpse of a non-mechanical and full body of the Icon of Sin.
For those of you unaware as to what this “ultimate evil” is, it’s the final boss of Doom 2 and its WAD expansions The Plutonia Experiment and TNT: Evilution. In other words, the massive goat-like biomechanical head on a wall will appear in the 2020 version of Doom — except without being attached to a wall and its brains being exposed.
In addition to the above, some people claim that the Icon of Sin can be seen in The Necropolis (the eleventh level) in Doom 2016, given that a massive skull of a goat with the same missing piece on its forehead is embedded into a rock face.
If you are unsure, you can be the judge by watching the official launch trailer below:
I’m not sure if the Icon of Sin will play out like some of Doom 2016 bosses or if it will mirror Doom 2′s style where it’s stationary and creates monsters for you to slaughter endlessly until death?
Well, we’ll find out what goes down when the game launches later this March for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. And for Switch goers, the game will land on the nifty device sometime later this year.
Lastly, Doom: Eternal will be joined by Doom 64 on March 20th, 2020, across PC and home consoles.
