Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo Now Available For Download

The demo for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake has finally launched for Western audiences. The demo clocks in at 7.55GB, so make sure you make some space available on your hard drive to grab the demo.

You can download the demo for free for the PlayStation 4 from over on the U.S. PlayStation Store page.

Those who nab the demo will also be able to grab an exclusive Final Fantasy theme that will be available between April 10th, 2020 and May 11th, 2020.

The single-player demo is the same one we discussed before back in late January, where it was close to an hour’s worth of gameplay and cinematics, introducing players to the game world, the characters, and the combat.

You can catch a glimpse of the demo with the 40 minute video below courtesy of Udiax Game.

Combat in the Final Fantasy VII Remake is very similar to the jejune setup from Final Fantasy XV. You’ll still have up to three people in your party, but you can only play one at a time since the combat is now in real-time.

In the demo you’ll only have access to Cloud and later on Barrett. Both characters have their own unique abilities and combat mechanisms to tackle certain kinds of enemies. For instance, Cloud can’t reach elevated stationary turrets but Barrett can target them with his minigun.

Your basic attacks are done with the Square button but you can also perform specials using Triangle. The controls actually remind me a little bit of The Bouncer, but with a slapdash of Tetsuya Nomura put on it.

Also, take note that whatever progress you make in the demo will not carry over into the full game. So if that’s something that will bother you, then you may do well to put off grabbing the demo for now.
