Mortal Kombat 11 Trailer Previews Spawn’s Moves, Fatality

NetherRealms Studio released the latest trailer for the DLC add-on character, Spawn. The trailer covers some of the character’s moves, his Fatal Blows, as well as his Fatality, which is quite gory in many of the right ways.

Since Spawn is a licensed property they didn’t take any liberties with trying to make him woke. Instead they keep it simple, showcasing his intro where he has a funny exchange with Scorpion, as well as his basic combos and special moves.

You can check out the trailer below, courtesy of GameSpot.

Most of Spawn’s moves are exactly as you would expect. He mixes and matches brute strength with mid-ranged projectile attacks, along with being able to make use of his cape for anti-air defense, and counter attacks.

They included his different outfits from both the comic book iteration and the live-action version where the suit looks more like some kind of otherworldly, organic armor.

The different suits appear to give Spawn different buffs, depending on your play-style.

Sadly we don’t get to see many moves that make use of Spawn’s cape and chains. They were key weapons that were utilized throughout the comic books, but are supplemental means of offense at best, based on the trailer above.

I was expecting more gliding and aerial attacks with the cape, but that just didn’t happen…. well not as part of his basic move set. You do get to see him spread open his cape and light up his opponent with a smorgasbord of guns during his Fatal Blow.

It was also kind of disappointing seeing that his Fatality was less epic than his Fatal Blow.

After chaining up his foe, he strips them of their flesh and then covers them in his cape. When he opens up the cape all their blood, muscle, and organs go flying in every which direction, not unlike the creatures from the original Beastmaster.

Mortal Kombat 11 - Spawn Fatality

As much as I loved Spawn back during the 90s, and absolutely adored the 16-bit platformer on the SNES with the badass soundtrack, Mortal Kombat 11 is far too converged for my tastes and NetherRealm getting woke meant that I there was no way I was going to put any coins in their coffer.

You can look for Spawn to make his debut for those who purchased the season pass starting March 17th. For everyone else he will be made available starting March 24th.
