Capcom’s Shinsekai: Into The Depths is currently available right now for the Nintendo Switch for just $19.99. The 2.5D puzzle-platformer seemingly came out of nowhere and landed on the Nintendo eShop with very little fanfare other than a brief mention in the news segment of the Nintendo Mini Direct.

The game sees players taking control of one of the last of humankind in order to brave the deepest depths of the ocean after an apocalyptic winter basks the Earth in a new ice age.

Gamers will have to move maneuver through various treacherous deep sea trenches and navigate around coral reefs, blockades, and past deadly flesh-eating creatures.

The movement of the main character is really smooth. I’m impressed with the motion capture work. You can readily tell they put a lot of time and energy into capturing the movements and gait of a deep sea diver.

According to the press release, the engineering team also ran all the audio through a filter to emulate the effects of what it would sound like being submerged that far down below the surface of the water.

The Switch version of the game is also on the receiving end of two exclusive features, including the Jukebox Mode, which allows you to remix the music in the game using a selection of filters, and a new mode called Another Dive. In the new game mode you’ll be tasked with completing objectives while on a timer, attempting to speed through the puzzles as quickly as possible.

It’s not really my kind of game, but if you were looking for a 2.5D puzzle-platformer on the Nintendo Switch, and My Name Is Pedro wasn’t enough for you, then you can get your hands on Shinsekai right now on the Switch for $19.99 from over on the Nintendo eShop.

The game is also available for the Apple Arcade but nobody plays games from the Apple Arcade and nobody cares about the Apple Arcade.
