WRC 9 Announced For PS5, Xbox Series X

Nacon and Kylotonn Racing Games announced that WRC 9 is scheduled to release on the PS4, Xbox One and on the Epic Games Store starting September 3rd later this year. The game will arrive at a later date, presumably in the fall, for the Nintendo Switch. Nacon also announced that this will be the first WRC game to make its way to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The news was also coupled with the announcement that Nacon and Kylotonn Racing Games have extended their licensing partnership with FIA and WRC to continue to produce WRC games up through 2022, which will include the releases of WRC 10 and WRC 11.

As for WRC 9, the game received its debut announcement trailer, which you can check out below.

The trailer doesn’t showcase diddly squat related to the game. Instead we just get some snippets of the e-sports sector of WRC and real life footage from actual rally races.

They do reveal that Japan is being added to the docket, along with New Zealand and Kenya.

The game will feature over 50 officially licensed teams from the WRC, WRC 2, WRC 3, and Junior WRC leagues.

They’ve also added 15 additional bonus cars in addition to the already extensive roster of cars.

Kylotonn also went back and improved the overall vehicle behavior and physics, especially regarding mass transfer during turns, suspension reactions, braking, and other refinements. You’ll also be able to partake in an enhanced career mode that takes a lot of what they did with WRC 8 and improved on it to make it more immersive and robust.

I’m only concerned with how the game will look and run on the Xbox Series X and PS5.

Sadly the trailer didn’t give us any hint of that, but hopefully some new footage will arrive soon so we can see how the game performs on the next-gen twins.
