Eagle Dynamics released a really cool video for fans of true hardcore flight simulators, announcing that the map packs, asset packs, and aircraft will be free to try out for an entire month, from April 19th up through May 18th.

Typically the software doesn’t always have the best rep because it’s very similar to the Train Simulator series, where there’s thousands of dollars of DLC, and most people just don’t know where to begin or what to do to get involved, and don’t want to spend hours (and untold amounts of money) trying to get involved, but having an opportunity to play some of the content for free will easily lure some gamers into the fold, especially after watching the exceptionally edited promotional video they put out. Not everything is free, though.

In the YouTube description they explain what’s offered for free while the other campaign content is being discounted by half off…

“For the whole period, a 50% discount is available on all products should you wish to purchase.
Note : the F-14B and AJS-37 Viggen have elected to pass on the event. JF-17 Thunder will have a 15.00 USD discount. All campaigns are discounted but not free to play for obvious reasons.

“On Steam, fly the F/A-18C Hornet, F-16C Viper, A-10C Warthog, F-5E Tiger II, Persian Gulf Map and all DCS World War II products for free during a two-week period from April 19th to May 3rd. Between the 13th and 27th of May, a 50% discount on all DCS products will be available.”

I’m not into all of the DLC shenanigans, which is precisely why I steer clear of games like this, but I do appreciate the gesture from Eagle Dynamics.

Some flight fanatics out there and gearhead pilots who are grounded due to Corona-chan will probably take a liking to a game series like DSC World where you get to fly in some of your favorite aircraft without worrying about social distancing, or a governor trying to have you arrested for jogging on the beach.
