Scrap Mechanic Co-op Survival Mode Goes Live May 7th

Axolot Games is one of the few developers left who understands that video games are designed to be fun. While some developers are going out of their way to antagonize and demonize their own audience for not accepting their degenerate sociopolitical beliefs, there are other developers exciting their fanbase and getting gamers geeked for truly fun-filled gameplay sessions, and Axolot Games is doing just that with Scrap Mechanic’s Survival Mode.

The sim-based feature will add food and health stats, the ability to grow and manage crops, along with dynamic combat against enemy AI and all of the cool and quirky building mechanics that made Scrap Mechanic standout when it first entered into Early Access back in 2016.

The Survival Mode had been teased for the last four years, and after a lot of time, dedication and development, Axolot is delivering on that promise come May 7th. They released an action-packed trailer to showcase the mode and the multiplayer, which you can check out below.

Unlike other survival sims this isn’t just another DayZ or Rust clone. You’re not just listlessly gathering resources to survive against other players or zombie hordes.

Much like the base game, you still have complete and unfettered access to a wealth of materials to build whatever the limits of your imagination can conjure up.

I love how the video doesn’t just show typical creations such as vehicles and boats, it also shows how you can make use of the mechanical kinematics to build all sorts of nifty contraptions such as swinging arms, launchers, trebuchets, trap-doors, hammers, cages, and more.

If you enjoyed Scrap Mechanic before but lamented the lack of a more involved story mode, then you’ll probably enjoy the Survival Mode for the game – which you can play with a couple of friends in online co-op – once it goes live starting May 7th.

Now keep in mind that Scrap Mechanic is still in Early Access, so it’s not a finished game and won’t be finished for some time. Even still, if you wanted to learn more about the new update or wishlist the game, you can do so by visiting the Steam store page.
