The Inner Friend, Abstract Horror Game Heads To PS4, Xbox One April 28th

Playmind announced that their third-person abstract horror game, The Inner Friend, is set to arrive on the Xbox One and PS4 starting April 28th at the end of the month. The release date was accompanied by a gameplay trailer to give you an idea of what this peculiar new horror title is like.

The game is currently available right now over on the Steam store for PC, and that version will be receiving a free update to coincide with the launch on home consoles. The game originally launched back in 2018 for PC, and is currently available for $14.99.

The game centers around a journey into a disturbed mind, as the player attempts to escape from deadly shadows while piecing together the fragments that make up the memories of the protagonist. You can check out a glimpse of what the game is like with the trailer below.

The visuals are definitely interesting. Players will encounter a number of subconscious-based horrors based on the experiences of a distorted childhood filled with fear and loathing.

Unlike other horror games, though, you will be able to do more than just run and hide in fear; you will be able to fight back.

Emmanuel Sevigny, founder and CEO at Playmind commented in the press release about the game, explaining why they’re targeting the home consoles and what they hope to achieve in the near future…

“We at PLAYMIND are very excited to be able to share our game with a brand new audience on Xbox One and Playstation 4. While we are very proud of the accolades The Inner Friend has received, we think the best validation of our work comes from our fans that have allowed us to continue to make games. We can’t wait to welcome another wave of enthusiastic players to our community.”

The game also features puzzles, platforming, and exploration in addition to trying to survive the shadow monsters.

The Inner Friend will be available on the PS4 and Xbox One starting April 28th for $14.99, just like the PC version. There will also be a 10% off discount for those who pre-order the game, while a 20% off discount will be offered for those who have PlayStation Plus.
