Bleiberg Entertainment and Samual Goldwyn Films have a brand new action-comedy set to arrive at the end of the month… May 29th, to be a little specific. It’s a sequel to the 2018 flick The Debt Collector starring international action star Scott Adkins, appropriately called Debt Collectors… since there’s two of them now.
The trailer for the film originally dropped back in mid-April but given all the news surrounding Mistress Corona-chan putting various movies, games, and anime on a stretcher until further notice, I sadly missed the trailer by a long shot.
But don’t worry, it’s better late than never… right?
Anyway, you can check out the Debt Collectors two minute trailer below.
Being completely honest, the trailer was cut together in a really weird way. It showed off a lot of the movie without actually explaining what the movie was about.
I doubt it matters much given that we know it’s a buddy-up action-comedy starring two vets of the game: Scott Adkins and Louis Mandylor.
Poor ‘ole Louis is usually cast as a sidekick or a red shirt in most action films, but it’s still a pleasure to see him on-screen from time to time. If you haven’t already, you can also see him in Johnny Strong’s Daylight’s End. But I digress.
Jesse V. Johnson, the same director of Adkins’ other recent action-packed film, Avengement, returns to give the martial arts star a bit of room to exercise his comedic chops alongside his iconic kicks.
Even though the trailer was a little shoddy I’m still looking forward to the film just because I’m a Scott Adkins fan, and I’m sure he picked up quite a few new members to the club after coming off the recent success of Donnie Yen’s Ip Man 4.
As for Debt Collectors, in some ways the film looks like it has the duo encountering all manner of scumbags and low-lives trying to do them in, not unlike the film The Baytown Outlaws starring Clayne Crawford. If you haven’t seen that flick definitely check it out, it’s a little bit like a budget-priced version of Smokin’ Aces.
If the Debt Collectors seems like a night of entertainment worth your while, you can look for it to hit streaming and video on-demand services starting May 29th. For more info feel free to hit up the official website.
