Universal Pictures, Bandai Namco, Tigon Studios, and Slightly Mad Studios’ Fast & Furious Crossroads has received its official release date and you can look for the game to arrive on PC, PS4, and Xbox One starting August 7th, 2020.
The release date for the action-racing title was rolled out along with a brand new gameplay trailer, featuring two and a half minutes of in-game play.
You can get a look at the game yourself with the trailer below.
The gameplay is like a typical Need For Speed game but where you have obnoxious voice acting from the cast of the Fast & Furious franchise who just won’t shut up while you swap between different characters and their vehicles, using each of their special abilities to take down enemies, or in this case a hovercraft, so you can complete various tasks or missions.
They preview various missions where you have control of various cast members from the franchise, but I didn’t see The Rock in there.
The gameplay reminds me of Split/Second meets Need For Speed: The Run, where you have a lot of “cinematic” moments compiled through scripted scenarios that you have to drive through in order to complete.
The last-gen presentation and gameplay was not amusing to the audience at large, and they promptly downvoted the trailer into oblivion.
The comments on the video page absolutely do not disappoint.
People on Twitter were also ragging on the game for not looking good enough to be an Xbox One title. Hilariously enough, Xbox One games don’t even look that good and people still think that it deserves better than Fast & Furious Crossroads.
It’s quite sad because 12 years ago The Wheelman came out and actually looked better from a gameplay perspective than what Fast & Furious Crossroads has to offer.
Anyway, the game is due out on August 7th, 2020 for home consoles and PC.
