Gori: Cuddly Carnage Features Hack-And-Slash Gameplay With Hoverboards And Fighting Cats

Angry Demon Studio is working on a third-person, hack-and-slash, action-adventure game starring an explosively violent cat named Gori. You play as the space-faring cat who is tasked with wiping out blood-thirsty toys after they eradicated humans for not being cute enough. Joined by his depressed AI, CH1-P, and a razor-laced hoverboard that can decapitate and mutilate, Gori must slice, dice, and glide his way through the horde of mutated toys to save the galaxy from the Adorable Army.

The game sounds pretty crazy, but also like something that comes straight out of sixth-gen gaming. The graphics and art-design remind me a lot of Artoon’s Blinx series for the OG Xbox.

Once you see the game in action with the announcement trailer below, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

Unlike Blinx, though, this isn’t a stealth-oriented, third-person shooter with platforming; it’s a fast-paced, hack-and-slash, melee based brawler.

Traversal in between the levels of the game is done via the hoverboard, where you glide, rail-grind, and surf your way around the environment.

It’s a little hard to draw direct comparisons to other games out there, but I suppose the closest comparison would probably be Sunset Overdrive meets Devil May Cry.

There’s a lot of potential here for Gori: Cuddly Carnage to be a standout within its genre, but that’s all assuming that Angry Demon Studio follows through with making a competently complete and relatively bug-free experience.

There’s no release date set for the game just yet, but we do know that it has reached alpha stage in the development pipeline so it’s a ways off from release at this point. There isn’t a whole lot of information available on title beyond that, so you’ll have to wait for future updates to find out what the combat system will be like, how traversal will work, and how many levels will be available in the finished product.

You can follow the development or wishlist Gori: Cuddly Carnage by visiting the Steam store page.
