Sony DMCAs Their Own PlayStation Tweet Promoting The Last Of Us 2

Sony’s insistence on shutting down any leaks of The Last of Us: Part II has resulted in them incidentally shutting down one of their own avenues of promotion when they filed a digital millennium copyright act claim against a tweet on the official PlayStation Twitter account.

It was spotted by various users who quickly mocked the company when it was discovered that the May 6th, 2020 tweet promoting the latest story trailer for The Last of Us: Part II was hit with a copyright claim by the copyright holder… which is Sony.

If the tweet is not available for viewing for any reason at all, you can see a screenshot of the tweet below, which clearly shows that the image and video of The Last of Us: Part II has been DMCA’d off of the official PlayStation Twitter account.

This hilarity has resulted in plenty of people taking well deserved pot shots at Sony for their gaffe.

YouTubers like Geeks + Gamers did a quick video to remind you of how ludicrous this copyright vendetta has become for Sony and Naughty Dog.

Sony hired Muso TNT to carry out all of their nefarious DMCA claims, which has resulted in countless YouTubers receiving copyright strikes and having their content claimed by Sony Interactive Entertainment America and Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe.

Expect to see this nonsense continue on leading up to the June 19th, 2020 release of The Last of Us: Part II.

Thankfully, some YouTubers have the backbone to challenge the DMCA claims and have been posturing to go to court and engage in a legal battle against Sony for abusing the copyright system. We’ll see how that all turns out as June gears up to be a real blockbuster month this year.
