Alex Kidd In Miracle World DX Announced

Merge Games and Jankenteam announced that they are reviving Alex Kidd for a new generation of gamers. For anyone who missed out on the challenging side-scrolling platformer for the Sega Master System way back in the late 1980s.

The new game doesn’t betray the original’s intent, and it’s still a hand-animated platformer with HD visuals, top-notch animations, and a variety of quality of life improvements.

Not only are all of the original stages making a return but brand new areas are being included, along with an all new Boss Rush mode. You can check out the gameplay trailer below, courtesy of IGN.

Visually the game looks amazing, and the fact that Jankenteam decided to faithfully recreate the game based on what it was instead of trying to turn it into something completely different.

However, if you’re not a fan of the new visuals and gameplay, there’s also a mode that allows you to revert back to the Retro Mode. It works very similar to the options present in Halo: The Master Chief Collection where you could swap between the original graphics and the updated graphics for Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2.

They didn’t give a release date on when the game is launching, or which platforms it will be launching on, but it will likely be a multi-platform title launching sometime later this year.

Keep in mind, though, Sega is on the Traitors of America master list.
