Do you want to play a gruesome medieval game without current year propaganda? Well, then there is a first-person melee game that resembles 1990’s action titles like Witchhaven and Hexen called Arthurian Legends by Scolaro Games that will release soon for PC.
From shooting off enemy heads to full-on decapitation, Arthurian Legends aims to bring more than just brutal violence but a game with a story.
In this game, folks must go up against the “army of darkness” filled with Saxons, demonic beasts, possessed knights, exiled mages, the undead, and other unworldly creatures.
The journey will take players across “foul and treacherous terrain” from dark forests, forts, swamps, and frozen wilderness to castles, crypts, and caves to save Albion from the masters of the old religion.
Anyway, here’s the latest description and an older gameplay trailer related to Arthurian Legends:
“In a time before Camelot, magic coursed through the veins of Albion and for generations the people learned to harness this power, and as with all things in nature, they understood there was a balance. For a time the people were united in peace, until the day that the once-righteous king of Albion, Uther Pendragon, cast blame upon magic itself for the death of his queen, and thus decreed magic to be of “The Old Religion”, banishing it’s practice and followers from Albion forever…
A darkness now spreads across Albion, the crops are dying and the water is turning foul. The people are plagued with hunger and disease, fewer by the day have the strength to fend off the growing hordes of Saxons invading from the east. It is feared the Saxons are aided by dark magic, by those who were exiled by Uther’s blood-lust…”
Although the above gameplay video is old, the following images are new and up for your viewing pleasure:
If conventional weapons aren’t your thing and you feel that bladed weapons aren’t cutting it, you can try your hand at magic. You can also control enemies with magical powers that can either freeze, burn, or shock foes with bolts of terror.
Moreover, the game wouldn’t be a proper 1990’s tribute if secrets weren’t placed around maps. Magical items, weapons, health pickups, and other goods can be found in hidden places in every chapter, as well as secret bosses.
The devs are set to release Arthurian Legends sometime “soon” for PC and will drop a demo in the near future. More info about this game can be found on arthurianlegends.net.
