Handball 21 Arrives On PC, PS4, Xbox One This November With Overhauled Animations, AI

Nacon revealed the very first gameplay trailer for Handball 21, the upcoming annual sport-based outing from Eko Software for home consoles and PC. The game series is being supported by Nacon (formerly known as Bigben Interactive) who for the last couple of years has been trying to eke out a market in the forgotten or abandoned alternative sports genre; Eko Software has been more than willing to capitalize on the opportunity to slowly improve and evolve under Nacon’s leadership.

Eko has also been responsible for the Rugby games that Nacon produces, the most recent of which launched this past January for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

As for Handball 21, you can check out the brief snippet of gameplay with the announcement teaser below to get a general idea of what to expect from the upcoming game.

Even though the trailer wasn’t really gibbous when it came to outlining the content, the press release delved a bit more into the development side of things, revealing that it’s been four years since the last Handball outing from Eko Software and then Bigben Interactive. Within that time the developers have been working on improving the gameplay and optimizing the performance.

While the core visuals aren’t the most groundbreaking thing on the market, they did completely redo all the player animations and overhaul the AI to be more aggressive and behaviorally realistic.

New defensive tactics, custom play sets, and passing options have also been included, allowing for more tactical gameplay alternatives provided to gamers.

There are also over 1,600 licensed players who appear in the game, along with the option to play solo with the all new League Mode, or take the competition to rival players in either offline or online multiplayer modes.

On paper it seems like a decent, mid-budget attempt at bringing handball to gamers. We’ll see if it actually plays as well as the press release makes it out to be.
