4G Vision, Veritcal Entertainment and Scott Wiper’s The Big Ugly is a throwback to classic revenge films. It’s about a man who loses someone dear to him and decides to make everyone pay until he finds the man responsible. Taking on the role of vengeance-incarnate is none other than real-life tough guy and former footballer, Vinnie Jones.
The Big Ugly is about a British gangster using an American businessman to clean his dirty cash. Vinnie Jones is one of the muscle for the gangster, but his girl gets killed and then he turns on the people he used to partner with.
The near three minute trailer lays out the basic plot, but it doesn’t give everything anyway. You can check it out below courtesy of Movie Trailers Source.
Anyway, this looks like a classic revenge flick made in a similar vein to films like I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, Out of the Furnace or Death Wish II.
The movie looks pretty solid as far as quality is concerned, and it’s nice that Vinnie Jones has returned to the screen in a role that definitely suits him.
Hopefully the premise isn’t undermined by some kind of other hidden propaganda. On the upside at least some of these indie films are trying to bring back the kind of entertainment that Hollywood has abandoned.
