Outright Games revealed the first promotional trailer for Transformers: Battlegrounds, the upcoming action game set to arrive on home consoles starting October 23rd, 2020 this fall. The game looks pretty awful, though, like it came directly out of a mobile cloning factory.
I’m usually willing to give Transformers games the benefit of the doubt, but this one isn’t looking too hot. According to Transformers World, the game was originally unveiled at the Toy Fair 2020, and that the game is set within the Transformers: Cyberverse/Evergreen universe.
The trailer doesn’t really reveal much other than some PS2-quality graphics in an isometric perspective. If you need to see the abomination for yourself in action, feel free to do so by checking out the PS4 reveal trailer.
Now don’t let the trailer exclusivity for PlayStation fool you into thinking Sony paid for exclusive platform rights for this game. No, it just happened to appear on the PlayStation channel first, but the game is also scheduled to release on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and on Steam for PC.
The site also captured a description of the game from over on the Outright Games official website, which reads…
“As evil MEGATRON closes in on the Allspark, BUMBLEBEE and the Autobots need a new commander to help save Earth – you! Assemble your squad and roll out for a battle that will rage from Central City to Cybertron… and even to the local multiplayer arcade! More information to follow soon.”
It sounds like some kind of a real-time strategy game, but I’m not entirely sure.
It’s certainly nothing like the High Moon War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron games that came out a decade ago. A real shame, too.
Anyway, you can look for the game to arrive this fall starting October 23rd, 2020.
