Deqaf Studio and No Gravity Games announced that Creepy Tale, a side-scrolling, hand-drawn horror title, will launch on the Nintendo Switch starting July 10th. The game centers around two brothers, one of which is taken by some creepy monsters into a dark forest, forcing players to assume the role of the older brother who must rescue his younger sibling from the sinister forces that lurk about.

Like many other titles published by No Gravity Games, if you already own previously published titles from the outfit, such as Alder’s Blood, Star Horizon, Strike Force Kitty, Nonograms Prophecy, Make War, Ego Protocol: Remastered or Pirates: All Aboard!, you can get Creepy Tale during launch for up to 50% off the initial price.

Alternatively, pre-purchasing the title will net you a 20% off discount for the game.

As for the actual gameplay, it’s a mixture of platforming, puzzle solving, and adventure exploration.

You’ll need to guide the hero through the forest in order to save his brother while avoiding the monsters and creatures that propagate the evil forest.

This means relying on stealth, hopping across platforms to avoid being caught, or quickly figuring out various logic challenges in order to progress through to the next segment.

The visuals are mirrored after old children’s books with skewed lines and a muted color palette, but it tosses in enough of a visually ominous vibe to remind you that it’s still a horror game.

I’ve never been a fan of the Flash-style animation technique because it makes it look like paper cutouts that are being moved around, but this is an indie game, and at least the actual art-style has its own charms.

Creepy Tale will be available in Europe, North America, and Hong Kong starting July 10th. You can pick up a digital copy from either the Nintendo of Europe eShop or the Nintendo of America eShop.
