Despite Far Cry 6 leaking earlier than its actual reveal trailer, Ubisoft has gone through with its Forward digital event to unveil the next installment in the ongoing Far Cry series of games. With that said, the new trailer invites viewers to see dictator Anton Castillo teaching his son Diego how the government of Yara and the citizens’ explosive relationship is akin to a hand grenade’s explosive mechanism.
Ubisoft’s Forward event has proved videogameschronicle.com report on actor Giancarlo Esposito being in the sixth installment in the Far Cry series correct. With that said, the first trailer to appear at said event showcases imagery of a guerrilla group and that of Castillo’s reign as the president of Yara (a fictional place).
The second video follows Castillo explaining to his son how he and his parliament wants to restore his nation back to its former glory by any means, but the people or citizens have basked in “freedom” so much that they no longer understand freedom and want to lash out at any type of structure. Because of this situation, Castillo feels that the government is the one holding a primed grenade and the people that no longer understand freedom are the primed grenade:
“ABOUT FAR CRY 6: In Far Cry® 6, players are immersed in the adrenaline-filled, chaotic world of a modern-day guerrilla revolution. Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Become a guerrilla fighter and burn their regime to the ground.”
Aside from the story of the game and Castillo, Dani Rojas is the protagonist and sounds as if you can pick its gender due to the wording “their.” With that said, you can read the description of Rojas becoming a freedom fighter:
Ignite the Fight for Freedom – Dive into a blockbuster experience as Dani Rojas, a local Yaran defending their country from a tyrant’s rule. Join the revolution to push back against the oppressive regime of dictator Anton Castillo and his teenage son Diego, brought to life by Hollywood stars Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian, Breaking Bad) and Anthony Gonzalez (Coco).
According to Ubisoft, the game will let people explore Yara and its sprawling city Esperanza. It is said that Far Cry 6’s map is the most expansive playground in the series to date and will let players explore the streets in style, through stealth or head-on by using stuff like tanks:
Yara Torn Apart – For the first time in Far Cry, experience a sprawling capital city: Esperanza, the most expansive Far Cry playground to date. Take down Anton in the seat of his power by staying hidden or engaging Anton’s army in an all-out firefight in the streets. From taking the reins of a horse to commandeering a tank, choose your favorite ride to fight against the regime or to just travel Yara in style.
Far Cry 6 also boasts new weapons, vehicles, and animal companions in a fight against an “unyielding military regime” led by Castillo:
Become a Guerrilla – Jump into the action and chaos of guerrilla combat at the heart of a revolution. Employ an arsenal of unique and surprising new weapons, vehicles, and animal companions in a fight against an unyielding military regime. No guerrilla should go it alone, so pair up with an all-new animal companion like Chorizo, the adorable wiener dog who’s as cute as he is lethal.
Lastly, Far Cry 6 will hit store shelves and the digital scene across PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Stadia on February 18th, 2021.
