Japanese outfit aNCHOR announced that Muv-Luv photonmelodies will be released on Steam for PC starting July 30th, 2020. The visual novel is part of a multi-part series consisting of five games, each of which have released over the last five years after initially being kickstarted to the tune of $1 million backed in 2015.
After releasing Muv-Luv Extra, Muv-Luv Unlimited, Muv-Luv Alternative and Muv-Luv photonflowers, they’re now prepping to bring gamers the English translated version of Muv-Luv photonmelodies.
The last entry in the series takes a much lighter tone compared to the other visual novels that came before it, this time focusing on Takeru’s return home after his harrowing adventures through the alternate worlds featuring gory combat missions against invaders known as the BETA.
The release of Muv-Luv photonmelodies also comes with two additional bonus stories, one called Muv-Luv: Adoration, which briefly takes a look at how Europe fared against the menacing BETA bug-creatures, and Muv-Luv: Resurrection, which follows the exploits of a cybernetic spy that attempted to infiltrate a Japanese base.
The English translations for the Muv-Luv series has been a slow and plodding process, but so long as they’re free of the absolutely horrendous Social Justice Warrior hogwash that has ruined so many other visual novels in recent times, then it’s not all bad.
Also, since the all-ages version of the visual novel is launching on Steam, the game won’t be banned for some silly or nonsensical reason like some other visual novels, many of which have unceremoniously ended up on the Waifu Holocaust banned game list.
