Seized Trailer Sees Scott Adkins Taking Down Drug Lords And Criminals

Scott Adkins still can’t escape the B-movie (or more like C-movie) territory. He’s an excellent martial artist and certainly growing constantly as an actor. However, he still just can’t seem to make it to the next level to hit that breakout role, cementing him as a budding big-time player ready for the big leagues. I doubt Seized will be the movie that elevates him out of the rut, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction.

The Lions Gate film sees Adkins getting ambushed, knocked out, and left with a phone where a cartel member, played by Mario Van Peebles, informs him that they have his son and that if he doesn’t do what they want they will kill his son.

These leads Adkins on a wild kill chase, taking out rival cartel members and criminals at the behest of Van Peebles, all in an attempt to save his kidnapped son. You can check out the trailer below, courtesy of Movie Trailers Source.

The plot for the film is recycled from other previous action titles, namely Die Hard With A Vengeance and 12 Rounds. The action also seems to be reminiscent of the tightly-knit cinematography of John Wick and Extraction, complete with some neon-light club shootouts and showdowns in a sandy villa.

As always, the highlight of the trailer is the action sequences involving Adkins, who still looks like he’s in top form here.

Obviously the movie doesn’t look anywhere near as brutal or as fun as the B-movie masterpiece that is Avengement, but it seems decent enough.

I still wish that Adkins could be paired with a director and screenwriter who could take his skills and apply them to other genres, especially the action-horror genre. Adkins needs a few high-class B-movie classics under his belt like Evil Dead 2, The Thing or Daylight’s End.

Anyway, you can look for Seized to arrive on DVD and digital streaming services right now.
