Yakuza Empire, Turn-Based Strategy Game Announced For PC

Finally, a real game for real gamers. Unsurprisingly it comes from Polish studio RockGame S.A., who isn’t afraid to step outside the box and offer the market something that actually seems worth playing. Yakuza Empire puts players in charge of a feared clan within the Japanese organized crime syndicate, and your job is to train up soldiers, maintain order, and cut down your enemies.

Stylistically the game looks like it’s imitating the late 1980s era of Hong Kong action cinema, despite being set in 1992, Tokyo, Japan. There’s a great use of silhouettes, contrasting lights, and gritty visuals.

Mechanically you’ll be in charge of recruiting members to your clan, training them up in specific areas, and then sending them on missions.

You can get a glimpse of what the gameplay is like with the announcement trailer below.

Majority of your actions will come from your base of operations, where you’ll dedicate rooms to specific tasks, from recon and working out, to training and relaxation.

It’s not unlike other turn-based games such as XCOM or Xenonauts.

We don’t get to see any of the raw gameplay, but hopefully it matches what we see in the trailer.

Some of the commenters were suggesting that a few of the leisure activities made available in between missions should include visiting the strip club. That’s actually a great suggestion and hopefully RockGame takes that into account.

RockGame isn’t quite a proven brand in the industry just yet, but they’re working with some interesting concepts and a lot of ideas that seem to hearken back to when video games were designed to be first and foremost fun.

There isn’t a whole lot of other info available for Yakuza Empire right now, but you can keep an eye on the game by visiting the Steam store page, where you can wishlist or favorite the game.
