Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games may have shut down the alternative GTA V multiplayer mods, but that hasn’t stopped modders from getting creative and finding new ways to bring the multiplayer mode to life in a way that Rockstar never will.
One of the newest mods for the game adds an online co-op mode that allows gamers to play the single-player missions with other players.
GTA5Cheats.com took notice of a new mod up on GTA5-Mods.com from modder Guadmaz. On the page he states…
“Ever dreamed of a cooperative mode in a grand theft auto game? Well, now it’s a reality, sort of. You can complete missions with your friends, experience the joys of heisting with random people, or just drive around the interstate with your buddy.”
The mod allows players to host their own servers, join up with other players and either complete missions together or just goof off around Los Santos. The nice part about the script is that it enables users to host mods on their own servers and it’s completely separate from GTA Online, so Rockstar doesn’t have to worry about it eating into their Shark Card scheme.

GTA5Cheats notes that the game runs on a synchronization setup, so that it spawns NPCs that mimic other players’ actions. It’s a complex way of playing multiplayer but if it works, it works.
Way back when, some modders tried doing the same thing with Sleeping Dogs – using debug administration tools to have the game use AI NPCs to mimic the actions of other players. It was never properly finished but in a way you can see how that same approach has worked in this case for GTA V.
The mod is being updated on a regular basis mostly thanks to the project being open source on GitHub. The biggest hurdle that Guadmaz is working on now is the synchronicity between server hosts and clients, as well as fixing the rather janky vehicle sync. If this mod gets up and running right proper, this could be a huge way to boost the replayability of the single-player mode given that players will be able to replay all the missions with friends.
If you want to get your hands on the mod you can do so right now by downloading it from GTA5-Mods.com. You might also want to move fast before Take-Two Interactive sends out more private investigators with cease and desist letters.
