The team-based action adventure Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide now has DLC that expands the original game, and works with those who don’t have the new Drachenfels update. It currently adds three new maps, and two weapons. Vermintide is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Garnering a mix review when it first came out, and seems to still hold a somewhat positive/mixed outlook, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide latest DLC comes in at $8.99 and adds a new glaive for the wood elf, and a volley crossbow for the Witch Hunter — which excludes the other classes. These weapons, of course, can only be found in the Drachenfels DLC and tags along with three stages that contain them. These three maps include Castle Drachenfels, Summoner’s Peak and the Dungeon.
“The Skaven are on the move, beady eyes set on the dreaded abandoned castle of Drachenfels. In this DLC for Vermintide, it’s up to our heroes to once again stop the Skaven army from fulfilling their vile agenda.”
Each map pertains to the evil Skaven — the first mission has players roaming through the ancient rooms of the Drachenfels’ Castle, while the second has players thwarting the existence of an ancient portal by the Skaven, and the last forces heroes to traverse through the dark and dingy dungeons of Drachenfels.
As one would expect, this has players traveling outside of Ubersreik’s walls to the grayish hills of Grey Mountains. Before jumping into the trailer for the DLC, it’s noted that torches and tight chambers will be something common inside the castle, which comes riddled with traps and passages.
Furthermore, I feel like the trailer doesn’t give a nice tour of the three maps, nor does it explore the new weapons in a way that’s robust enough for one to say I’ll pay for that. But, if you want to see it for yourself, you can check it out courtesy of Fatshark ‘s YouTube channel.
As noted above, if one friend or someone else owns the DLC, as noted by the official page, you will be able to play the new stages and use the content in the Drachenfels DLC with others who don’t own it.
As of now, the actual game Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide holds a recent review of “Mixed,” while the DLC contains a rating of “Positive.” Many say that the DLC isn’t worth $8.99, but if it seems interesting, you can further check it out on Steam.
