After waiting a full week after the Patreon users managed to get their hands on version 1.5.1 of the Cemu Wii U emulator, all the kids too cool to pay five dollars in dimes for the emulator can now download it for free.
The GBA Temp forums had been bustling all day with the friction of uneasy fingers and anxious gamers sitting at the edge of their seats like pigeons perched on a wire, constantly asking, constantly pleading, constantly begging “When will 1.5.1 be released to the public?”
The Cemu developers had no time to dabble in the quarrels of kids, leaving the forums to fester their ponderous ways on the potential release of the public version of the Wii U emulator. But lo and behold, the Cemu team are true to their word, and before the strike of midnight they managed to release the public version of the emulator. It’s available right now over on the official Cemu.info website.
Alternatively you can download the zip file directly.
You can see what the emulator looks like running Super Mario 3D World with the video below from AMDFXTests. It’s a quick test of the game running with vsync.
There’s also another video showcasing how well Mario Kart 8 runs in the Cemu 1.5.1, courtesy of YouTuber beatlep. You can check out the minute long video below.
The system requirements haven’t changed since last time, and the changelog is the same as it was before when it originally released for the Patreon users a week ago.
If you don’t mind paying $5 to get your hands on the Cemu a week before everyone else, you can check out the Cemu Patreon page and pledge $5 a month to help them with the development of the Wii U emulator.
Alternatively, you can also put on your patient cap and wait it out by a week to get your hands on the emulator.
You will need a fairly hefty computer if you want to run some of the games at a full 60fps and beyond 1080p, so be sure to check out the official website to see if your rig meets the specs.
