Injustice 2 Not Coming To PC, But It Will Feature Customization

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment officially announced Injustice 2 following a mistaken leak by GameStop, who inadvertently took a piss in the cereal of the developers and publishers by letting the cat out of the bag early. Well, no worries, Warner Bros., and NetherRealm rolled with the punches and officially announced Injustice 2.

The second game adds a number of new features to the line-up, including vastly improved graphics, a couple of new characters on the roster – such as Supergirl – and the ability to customize the heroes with various armor types. You can check out the debut trailer below.

Ed Boon, the creative director at NetherRealm Studios commented about the new game and some of its features, mentioning in the press release…

“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” … “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

They don’t detail just how much customization will be afforded to players, but they do mention that it’s possible to unlock new gear by playing through the game and upgrading the heroes and villains of your choosing.

Speaking of the characters, Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus will be joining the roster this time around, along with Supergirl. Returning characters like Superman, Batman, Aquaman and the Flash will make the cut, along with many of the recognizable super-villains from the DC Universe.

Warner Bros., also made it known that those who download and play Injustice: Gods Among Us for mobile devices will unlock two special versions of Aquaman and Superman for Injustice 2 when the game launches next year.

Now here’s where things get a little hairy for gamers: if your primary gaming platform is PC, you’re screwed.

According to the press release Injustice 2 is only coming to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One in 2017. No PC mention at all.

Following the Batman: Arkham Knight fiasco last year on PC, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has slowly phased out their support for PC gamers, no longer offering patches, updates or DLC. The upcoming Batman: Return to Arkham is not coming to PC, and Batman: Arkham Knight GOTY Edition is not coming to PC. The Mortal Kombat XL Edition also did not arrive on PC. And now, they’re announcing that Injustice 2 is only coming to PS4 and Xbox One.

I’m not too fond of the console versions of games and I’m certainly not fond of games limited to 30fps, so they may have already lost a customer in me if they can’t get the game on PC. Anyway, expect to see and learn more about the new characters, customization features and arenas when Injustice 2 inevitably makes an appearance at this year’s E3.
