Contingent99’s game, Wizard of Legend, successfully passed Steam Greenlight and entered Kickstarter. With a goal of $50,000 and 28 days to go, the devs currently have 634 backers and raised $10,962 for their Hyper Light Drifter-like PC game.
To be clear, I really do enjoy games like Heart Machine’s Hyper Light Drifter, and to see more games coming out of the wood work like said game pleases me all the more. Wielding magic, blade and other stylized weapons to rid the world of evil entities, Contingent99 seeks to bring just that through their upcoming game, which is set to hit PC next year.
Those of you who are curious about the gameplay, Wizard of Legend operates almost like Hyper Light Drifter. Folks run around laying waste to undead soldiers with ice, fire and other wizardly abilities while progressing to become stronger. Joining the magical aspect is quick moves and chaining abilities as noted below.
“Wizard of Legend is a fast paced dungeon crawler with rogue-like elements where you assume the role of a powerful wizard intent on overcoming the Chaos Trials to become the next Wizard of Legend.”
I just hope the devs don’t pull any scams with this game because it’s really shaping up to be a nice action pixel RPG. But instead of wasting more words on trying to explain Wizard of Legend, you can watch the video below thanks to Contingent99‘s YouTube channel.
Lastly, the game will also feature local co-op for added fun when running through the story mode. The devs are looking into multiplayer (or online) co-op, but I’m pretty sure more information regarding online co-op and other features will be detailed as its Kickstarter starts to narrow down.
