The Cemu team has released version 1.5.3 for patrons backing the team through Patreon. Anyone who donates $5 or more to the development of the emulator will be able to receive the download link for the emulator a week before the public gains access to it.
The newly released version of the Wii U emulator, Cemu 1.5.3, brings with it the support for anisotropic filtering, enabling users to increase the clarity of textures for Wii U games, as well as sRPG color space support, and a new button mapping option to emulate the simulation of blowing into the GamePad’s microphone. This should make it a lot more convenient for playing games where that microphone feature is utilized.
The changelog for the Patreon edition of Cemu 1.5.3 reveals that native microphone support is now available, along with improved recompiler accuracy, and full DirectSound support for audio output. This should help with the clarity of sound output in a lot of ROMs, including clearing up any fuzziness or choppy audio for games with fairly accurate emulation.
Users on the GBA Temp forums have revealed that some games are working clean and pristine while others still suffer from some hiccups and issues here and there. For instance, Mario Kart 8 is still missing bloom effects, and in order to get some of the lighting effects to render properly the stages have to be restarted.
In the case of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, it too is also missing bloom effects, along with missing fog and some self-shadowing.
Even still, the game looks pretty darn good running in the Cemu version 1.5.3. In fact, you can see a list of Wii U games running in version 1.5.3, courtesy of GameDev1909.
For those of you wondering, the list contains a video of the changelog, a look at Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Bayonetta 1, Pokken Tournament, Resident Evil Retribution, Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros U, Wind Waker HD, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Lego The Hobbit and Captain Toad.
If you want to get your hands on the newest version of the Wii U’s Cemu emulator and you don’t feel like waiting an entire week for the public release version, you can download a copy after dumping $5 into the Cemu Patreon page.
