Atlus has a new demo out for their dungeon crawling RPG Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth. Out now for Japan, folks who own a 3DS and like the Etrian Odyssey series will be able to try out the game’s demo via the Nintendo eShop in Japan.

Those looking to try out the upcoming dungeon crawler by Atlus, a new demo for Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth is now up to test out via the Nintendo eShop in Japan. I’m sure a Western demo release will follow sometime later for fans to try out, but while we wait for the Western version, the Japanese demo is out now for the 3DS.

In addition, those who take part in the demo will be able keep their demo progress and will be able to transfer their data — including characters, levels, new skills, items, and much more — to the actual full version when it launches.

The demo also lets you create your own characters that can be changed to your liking, although it only happens to be a picture. Other things that can be changed include the system/option menus, which is also the same as the retail version, and still carries over.

Something worth noting, although I don’t like this practice, the demo can only be launched 30 times before it becomes unplayable. I know it’s used to give players a taste of the game to heighten the chance of demo-goers to buy the full version, but I think it’s best just to give a limited (in content) demo to play like in the old days.

Lastly, I don’t know when the Western demo will drop, same with the actual western full version. As for the Japanese version, the demo is out now for the 3DS, while the retail version is set to launch on August 4th.
