The Surge Gameplay Walkthrough Shows Exo-Suit Combat And Crafting

Have you ever wanted to play a game that fused Fallout and Lords of the Fallen? If that strange and weird combination seems interesting to you, The Surge brings the above combination to fruition in a more advanced apocalyptic world. Additionally, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 Interactive released a new gameplay walkthrough that shows in-game footage of The Surge. The game is set to come out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One sometime in 2017.

Okay, I’m saying it, I’m not really feeling this Fallout meets Lords of the Fallen premise in The Surge. While I was watching the gameplay video the whole thing seemed very jarring and a bit bland. However, I should note that the game is slated to come out next year, so some things might change for the better.

With that said, there are some things I do like, but before jumping into those things, the devs provided a summary of The Surge’s gameplay/lore.

Set in a Sci-Fi action RPG world, players are tasked with scavenging resources from different entities, individuals and robots. After a great global disaster, the world is said to be filled with a lot of crazy forces roaming about that threaten anything that crosses their path. As of course, upgrading weapons, armor and character attributes will help players overcome the aforesaid problems.

With that said, this now brings us to the Gamescon gameplay waklthrough that comes in from Focus Home Interactive.

Looking over to the combat mechanics, The Surge is said to sport an “innovative” combat system that allows you to target specific body parts. This is said to help cripple your enemies by dismembering parts of them, or their exo-suits, so that you can acquire whatever desired part it is you need.

This now brings me back to the features that I kinda like about The Surge. Each enemy will hold their very own pattern, weapons and skills based on location, whether they are human or not. This means that when engaging enemies, patterns and properties will play an important role, which will also give potential heads up of what kind of enemies will be in certain locations when exploring.

This also means that dealing with enemies won’t always be the same, and that the combat tactics will change up based on enemy patterns and skill. Although, the devs description of the game’s combat system sounds more interesting than what was shown above.

Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 Interactive’s game, The Surge, is set to come out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One next year.
