Gears Of War 4 Soundtrack Video Reveals Motorcycle Gameplay

A new behind-the-scenes video was released featuring composer Ramin Djawadi putting together the score for the upcoming release of Gears of War 4. Steve Jablonsky, who scored some of the previous Gears of War games is out, and the Game of Thrones composer is in.

Djawadi talks up putting together the music for the third-person shooter and the first entry in the series from the newly founded studio, The Coalition. You can check out the video below, which clocks in at just under four minutes.

During the behind-the-scenes clip, as they talk up Djawadi’s accomplishments in games, movies and television – including his work on the Medal of Honor remake – they also show some clips from the upcoming third-person, cover-based shooter. Some of those clips reveal some brand new gameplay sequences, including a motorcycle chase where they race through a forested area. Unfortunately we don’t get to see much of it, but it fits in line with some of the other vehicular sequences in previous Gears of War games. It appears as if players will do some riding and shooting in the sequence.

While they talk up the game and the music in the behind-the-scenes clip, I’m left to wonder if the original theme, the “Armored Prayer”, will make a return in some way?

They also discuss how the robot Cogs have more of an electronic theme while the Swarm have something dark and heavy. The Cogs that they’ve showcased so far don’t look like they’ll be very fun to fight, as they’re just typical, annoying robots. Technically, some of the best robots featured in a game have been the Murderbots from Saints Row. Those things were really hard to kill and then came crawling after you after they were blown up, it was a nice nod to Terminator.

So far the Cogs in Gears of War 4 just look like typical robots. But hopefully The Coalition has something special in store so the game doesn’t feel like a chore the way Gears of War: Judgment was.

You can look for the new game to launch on October 11th for the Xbox One and Windows 10.
