Oceanhorn, Zelda-Esque Adventure Game Launches For PS4, Xbox One

FDG Entertainment announced that Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas is currently available for download on PS4 and Xbox One. The game could best be described as The Legend of Zelda for the Xbox and PlayStation.

Players will travel around to different isles, just like Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, interact with various NPCs, take on quests and battle monsters.

The game was inspired by the likes of Final Fantasy and Nintendo’s classic adventure series, seeing players take on an arduous journey as they attempt to save their father. You can see what the gameplay looks like with the launch trailer below.

Running at 1080p and 60fps, the visual art-style for Oceanhorn really stands out. The game has a slick, inviting design with sharp resolution and a relaxed palette. It reminds me of the older games from the N64 era that were made with passionate and verve, and the developers were thoroughly enthused to make the game and really push the boundaries on fun and engagement. It’s sad to say but finding games these days that are actually fun to play seems like a lost art.

Nevertheless, there are puzzles to complete, platforming challenges to overcome, boat battles, and even bosses to battle. The game looks like something that should have been on the Wii U and I’m kind of shocked that it isn’t. Then again there are a number of games that should have been on the Wii U but aren’t due to one reason or another. And yes, I’m still salty about Slightly Mad Studios canceling Project CARS at the last minute for the Wii U.

Anyway, the music was put together by legendary composers Nobuo Uematsu and Kenji Ito.

You can pick up a digital copy of Oceanhorn right now for only $14.99 for the Xbox One and PS4.
